Evaluating Websites

e-Learning for Healthcare (e-LfH)

 is a Health Education England (HEE) programme in partnership with the NHS and professional bodies such as the Royal Colleges, providing quality-assured learning materials in the form of online modules in a variety of topics in medicine, allied health, imaging (including the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R)), healthcare management and information skills.

Health and medical resources

British National Formulary (BNF) and British National Formulary for Children (BNFC)
Provide UK healthcare professionals with up to date authoritative information on the selections and clinical use of medicines. BNFC is for use with children of all ages from newborn infants to individuals aged 18 years.  This online version is updated monthly.  There is also a print copy of BNF available in the Library shelved at 615.1342 BRI which is updated every 6 months.
A BNF/BNFC app is available for iOS and Android, giving you access to practical, evidence-based medicines information wherever you are.

NHS
The NHS is the UK’s biggest health website. It provides a comprehensive health information service aimed at the public.

Department of Health
Provides strategic leadership for public health, the NHS and social care in England. Policy documents, news and statistics are available from this site.

National Institute for Health & Care Excellence (NICE)

NICE Clinical Knowledge Summaries (CKS)
Provides practitioners with a summary of the current evidence base and practical guidance on best practice in over 330 conditions / presentations.

International websites

Medline Plus Produced by the National Library of Medicine (US), MedlinePlus offers reliable, up-to-date health information.

OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) Health Statistics
