Updated PubMed is on the way

by Angela Page on 2019-03-11T11:30:30+00:00 in Literature Searching, Research | 0 Comments

An updated version of PubMed which will eventually replace the current version, is now available on the PubMed Labs logoplatform.

The new interface looks much easier to read and to navigate around.  It is designed to work well on your phone and on other mobile devices.

Apart from the new interface, there are 2 main changes in the updated version:

  • there is a new relevance sort option facilitated by a search algorithm that uses machine learning to more accurately find the best matches for your search terms
  • articles that have abstracts include a 'snippet'; highlights from the abstract which are relevant to your enquiry, enabling you to find articles of interest more easily and quickly.

You can feed back on these new features - there is a form on the PubMed Labs site for you to send comments to the developers.
