The collections were brought together by Francis Wilson for the preservation of the history of European Chiropractic and to enable research use of the material.
The History Library was opened in 2003 by Michael Copland-Griffiths, the then chair of the General Chiropractic Council.
The library is made up of the following collections:
- AECC archive (c1960 - 2015) containing a mix of administration and operational documents from the founding days of the college. It includes the papers of Donald Bennett, one of AECC founders.
- European Chiropractor's Union archive (c1948 - 2000) also a mix of administration and operational documents.
- British Chiropractic Association archiver (1925 - 1994) includes minutes and correspondence from early debates and discussions around chiropractic in the U.K. These are the foundational heritage of the profession in the U.K.
- Papers of the Wight family (c1932 - 1995) containing a mix of business and personal papers of a family of Scottish chiropractors detailing the lived experience of practitioners.
- Published materials (1930 - 2006) including journals, newsletters and periodicals.
The History Library is located on the top floor of the main building above the dry lab. Students or staff wanting access to any of the resources in the collections should contact the library in the first instance.
